Job Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing, planning, and coordinating manufacturing activities at our two facilities in Brooklyn Park, MN. The position requires a thorough understanding of our sales, project management, engineering and manufacturing processes.

This position analyzes company procedures and protocols to ensure all operational strategies align with company goals. This will be done while leading the company’s operations teams to ensure the most efficient processes for converting materials and labor to a high-quality finished product.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the following teams: procurement, planning, manufacturing, shipping, quality control
  • Develop business initiatives that support company strategies to grow revenue and reduce cost
  • Identify current and future business strategy risks, provide and implement solutions to mitigate risks
  • Review capacity planning analysis and provide direction regarding resource capacity, including, translating annual sales budgets into projected resource usage
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to pre-production processes and procedures
  • Oversee improvement of standard operating procedures that align with quality system
  • Achieve optimum employee levels with the least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budget
  • Lead opportunities to maximize efficiency company-wide
  • Utilize and maintain metrics system to establish and monitor trends that provide enhanced forecasting and decision-making
  • Participate in monthly project reviews
  • Participate in the development of company strategies to gain entrance into new and profitable segments of the market
  • Manage operations staff and resources to proactively support company’s growth objectives
  • Champion for a safe work environment by actively monitoring safe work practices and participating in companywide policy decisions
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and leading Kaizen events

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in closely related field
  • 10+ years’ experience in the manufacturing sector
  • 5+ years’ experience in a leadership/management role
  • Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and proven commitment to safe work practices
  • Thorough understanding of continuous improvement through Lean and 5S work practices and Kaizen events
  • Thorough understanding of Six Sigma for improving the quality of operations management by eliminating errors and defects, reducing cost, and saving time
  • Ability to set up qualitycontrol circles, assess potential quality risks, and evaluate human factors and natural process variation
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience developing budgets and writing business plans
  • Professional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word & PowerPoint applications

APICS, OSHA Safety, Lean, ASQ Quality certifications
