Ridgedale Center, located in Minnetonka, Minnesota, was originally built in 1974 and just completed phase two of a major three phase renovation. Our Invisirail glass railing solution helped to complete interior and exterior portions of this second phase.
Our Base Shoe glass railing was used on the interior balcony within the newly added 142,000 -square-foot 2-story Nordstrom department store. This railing solution includes ½” clear tempered glass, fabricated by Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, supported by our aluminum base shoe which was mechanically fastened to a steel angle that was welded to the structural pour stop. A stainless steel top cap helps minimize glass deflection while maintaining clear sightlines between floors.
An exterior pedestrian bridge leading into the newly added Nordstrom retail store showcases our Base Shoe railing system with ½” clear laminated tempered glass with a 060 SGP Interlayer fabricated by Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope®, and features custom lit painted steel bollard posts providing a touch of elegance to the entrance. Due to an accelerated project schedule on the exterior scope, Trex Commercial Products assisted with providing the concrete layout to ensure the concrete curb and electrical conduit would accommodate the custom railing design.
It was a pleasure to work with DLR Group, Callison, LLC and United Glass, Inc. on phase 2 of the Ridgedale Center renovation project.
