49er’s Fans Have Something New to Hold On To

Recently Constructed Levi’s® Stadium Features Over 8 Miles of Railing Provided by SC Railing Company

Santa Clara, CA (September 3, 2014) – The SC Railing Company, a national leader in the design, manufacturing and installation of custom and modular railing solutions for commercial building applications, has installed more than 60 styles of railing at the Bay Area’s newest and greenest (LEED Gold certified) professional sports and entertainment facility: Levi’s® Stadium.

The future home of Super Bowl 50 (2016) and this year’s Thanksgiving Day match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks, the stadium features nearly 45,000 feet of railing, including portions of high-end stainless steel handrail with modular stainless steel components.

SC Railing added to the stadium’s function and décor with a custom rolled glass & handrail at the hall-of-fame grand stair, stainless steel LED rails going up each of the stadium’s monumental stairs and approximately 1,500 feet of USB-connected stainless steel drinkshelf encircling both the upper and lower concourses.

At the stadium’s external points of entry, SC Railing provided sliding and cantilever gates with 20-foot and 15-foot clear openings, respectively.

Throughout the stadium, SC Railing manufactured and installed thousands of feet of steel & aluminum picket guardrail, aluminum aisle rail & handrail, aluminum grating guardrail and glass guardrail.

“We can count on SC Railing to provide superior quality railing on time and on budget. Their professionalism, communication and attention to detail make them a clear choice to work with,” said Jonathan Harvey, Vice President of Construction, Devcon Construction, Inc.

In addition to offering innovative design, SC Railing also contributed to the stadium’s achievement of LEED Gold certification—the first U.S. professional football stadium to have done so—due to its Sustainable Development Policy, which calls for the use of environmental friendly or recycled materials whenever possible. For example, the steel products installed by SC Railing at Levi’s Stadium consisted of more than 90 percent recycled content (85 percent post-consumer, six percent pre-consumer). It also used pre-and/or post-consumer recycled content in its aluminum (75 percent), stainless steel (67 percent) and even glass (4 percent) components.

SC Railing is known for supplying railings and architectural metals to the most iconic venues in the country, including such legendary facilities as Dodger Stadium, Madison Square Garden, Target Field (home of the Minnesota Twins), Barclays Center (NBA’s Brooklyn Nets) and Marriott Marquis Hotel (Washington, D.C.).
