SC Railing’s glass railing contributions to Levi’s Stadium are featured in the “Great Glazing” section of e-glass weekly!
Editorial from Glass Magazine:
The basics: Future home of the 2016 Super Bowl, the San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium features nearly 45,000 feet of railing, including a custom rolled glass and handrail at the hall-of-fame grand stair, glass and stainless steel LED rails going up each of the stadium’s monumental stairs, and approximately 1,500 feet of USB-connected stainless steel and glass drinkshelf encircling both the upper and lower concourses. In addition to innovative design, the stadium achieved LEED Gold certification—the first U.S. professional football stadium to have done so—due to its Sustainable Development Policy, which calls for the use of environmental friendly or recycled materials whenever possible.
The players: Architect, HNTB Architects; general contractor, Turner Construction and Devcon Construction – Joint Venture; glass manufacturer, Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope; railing systems designer/manufacturer, SC Railing Co.; glazing systems installer, Danny’s Construction Co.
The glass and systems: The railings and drinkrails features 9/16-inch clear laminated tempered glass from Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope with .060 Dupont SentryGlass interlayer. The SC Railing Co. manufactured more than 60 styles of railing for Levi’s Stadium, including thousands of feet of steel & aluminum picket guardrail, aluminum aisle rail & handrail, aluminum grating guardrail and glass guardrail.
