Orlando Citrus Bowl Renovation

Orlando Citrus Bowl Renovation

Project: Florida Citrus Bowl

Location: Orlando, FL

Architect: HNTB

General Contractor:  Turner Construction

Completion Date: December 2014

The renovation of the Orlando Citrus Bowl marks a new era for collegiate football Bowl Championship events and a host of other annual events. The revamped stadiums capacity of 65,000 for sporting events and 75,000 for non-sporting events is a far cry from the 8,900 in the original 1936 Orlando Stadium. This renovation was 90% complete, and able to host traditional events in an astonishingly short 10 month construction period with an expected 100% completion in April 2015. SC Railing contributed 36,260+ feet of ornamental railing, and perimeter fencing for this upgraded facility including glass, aluminum, steel and stainless steel cable.

With only the upper deck stadium structure remaining, a complete bowl renovation worth $207M took place accounting for approximately 90% of the stadium. Ornamental railing can be found throughout the stadium in the seating bowl area as well as the suites, club seats, loge boxes, club decks and concourse areas. Our classic aluminum picket railing will welcome you into the stadium at the Grand Stair entrance. Aluminum aisle rail will guide you throughout the bowl of the stadium. Stainless steel cable railing is located at the front of the seating bowl, ADA seating areas and stairs connecting the club level to the mid-bowl. The vomitory entrances and stair towers are host to our aluminum multiline railing system, and glass railing can be found in the newly constructed suite areas throughout the facility. The outcome of this fast-paced, massive renovation is truly remarkable, and we appreciate the opportunity to work the HNTB Corporation and Turner Construction.
